BYOND account and character name: Joe of Cup and (not entirely sure but character name should've been) Aurora Jones
Banning admin: Derkuleen
Ban type/duration (where you are banned from and for how long): a permanent ban from revolutionaries. (Ban date: 6/14 at 15:16)
Ban reason: Refused to in any way contribute to rev round during round ID17816. allowed HOS to deconvert them and went mining instead of helping fellow revs" to the ban database.
Your side of the story: I started out, and I was still very new to SS13 in general, in mining with someone who said they'd help me learn the game a bit and etc... When I spawned I was instantly flashed and saw "you're a revolutionary!" So I asked my friend what we should do and next, I thought lavaland actually had good loot at this time, and I asked, "would gearing up in lavaland be a good idea?" He said, "yes." I followed said friend to lavaland (and I don't remember their IC or BYOND as I haven't played with them or seen them in a long time) and we mined for about 10 minutes or less before he said it probably wasn't a good idea to be there because we weren't supposed to leave the station Z level. We came back, I piggybacked them, they ran STRAIGHT into a sec officer right outside of sec's doors, got stunned instantly, and I was dragged in, literally being surrounded by all of the sec staff, wondering what in the world that I could do as this antag role (which was one of my very first rev games.) So, being the new player that I was, I had absolutely no idea what to do and just started talking to the sec who was implanting me... which, spoiler alert, didn't stop him from implanting me. I then received a bwoink after being clueless to what to do next and began to actually do the stupidest thing that a player can do... argue with an admin. After a couple of paragraphs, he called me a liar and said he was done talking about it and banned me. And yes, what made the admin mad was that my friend was stunned but I wasn't.
Why you think you should be unbanned: I was a new player to SS13 and even the idea of games such as this. I had no idea that revs weren't supposed to leave the current station Z levels and I had no idea what to do when the sec started dragging me, literally, straight into sec. I didn't even have time to think about how I could do anything to stop it; however, now, I would argue that I'm competent enough as a player, to at the very least, have a shot at revolutionaries again. And the "went mining" section at the end was also at the suggestion of my friend who said that there was nothing left to do about it, and I didn't even have a clue about how mining worked at that time. Did a new player deserve a permanent ban? How is a new player supposed to learn at that rate? All these questions were not sufficient in my argument with Derkuleen. I do wonder if it'll be sufficient here.
Thanks for your time.

Hello Joe, glad to see you've taken a moment to sit down and write a former appeal.
Sorry for the delay of my answer, but at least here I am. Reading from all the points you've mentioned, I can one hundred percent understand your scenario and find it quite harsh that you directly got hit with a permaban instead of a temp-ban. Do note that I don't know what was said in the ahelps for this ban. Players shouldn't be expected to destroy all of security during their first rev round for sure, hell most of them don't even have antag roles turned on because they're still discovering the game. You do need to understand that by not providing much support to the revolution, you're indeed making the round way harder for your teammates.
I reckton that a perma rev ban isn't the best solution. Yes, you've made a couple of mistakes, but didn't we all when we first started to play SS13?Flashbacks of blowing up the engine roundstart as an engineer. In my opinion 1 week would be the big maximum, and then again it all depends of your answers in the ahelps. I'll await for Derkuleen version of the story before giving my "full" +1 to your appeal, but do consider me being in favor of lifting it so far.
Hope your appeal goes well.
Take care,

Just try your best, and worse case scenario you will fail and learn.

Re: [Derkuleen.]. Joe of Cup - main server banned from revs for "allowed" deconvert
Sorry for letting this sit for so long. Been busy, as you do. I have no issue lifting this ban. I remember the situation in which it was placed and the exchange between us when it was applied. I expect there's been quite alot of change as you've played and learned more from the game. I'll lift the ban next I get a chance, or will see if fract can take the time to do it for me if that's more expeditious.
Cheers.
Cheers.
