Moderator Application ThatGuyFromThatPlace
BYOND ckey: ThatGuyFromThatPlace
Character name: Flynn Foxish
Discord username (+user id): ThatGuyFromThatPlace
How long have you played on Citadel?: 4-5 months
How long have you played SS13?: 5 months
What is your timezone/general hours of activity?: GMT-7. Basically, 90% of the time I'm not working, work around 9AM-6PM, work schedule is inconsistent
Previous SS13 related admin experience: None
Previous non-SS13 related admin experience: Various different Discord servers. A Gmod semi-serious RP server
Current administrators who have agreed to support your application: Nylon_Blitz, ImprovedName/Hyena
Reason for application: The server is in need of more admins, and, good ones at that. I've been seeing issues with players complaining about lack of admin response to ahelps, and other various things.
I have basically been playing nothing but SS13 and only on Citadel for the past few months of my life, and, as such, Citadel and many of its players have become important to me.
Please answer the following questions to the best of your abilities:
1. How would you engage with two players having an out of character altercation?
Well, attempt a bit of mediation, but, most importantly, make sure it isn't interfering with other players. Get it out of the game, and into DMs.
Aid in resolving the issue if possible, because, I prefer people not start making enemies, as that starts creating a hostile environment in Citadel
2. What should an admin do if they're involved in a situation that needs admin intervention?
An admin is not allowed to deal with a situation involving themselves. They act as a normal player in the situation, and rely on another admin to deal with it
3. How should an admin determine in what way to punish someone who breaks the rules?
Generally, at least, as far as I'm concerned, punishments should be lenient, and be based on how much of an issue a player is.
Repeatedly breaking rules
Severity of rule broken
And personal judgement
4. Under what conditions should an admin de-admin themselves while playing?
If they're not needed, and, they are in a situation where they need to avoid admin knowledge interfering with the game.
5. What is expected of an admin on Citadel?
Enforcing the rules, and being fair about it, dealing with unruly players, and stopping them from ruining the experience for others, with the goal of keeping the server a fun and enjoyable for those who wish to play on it.
(I was told it was okay to use the admin application template for a moderator application. I wanted to because, the admin template allows more detailed)

RE: Moderator Application ThatGuyFromThatPlace
you often get upset over minor things, and i've had to tell you multiple times before to let go.
how do you think you'll cope with these things as an administrator? because ignoring it is not always possible, even if most of the time it is.
do you intend to go on main at all? i recall you were very upset by the state of main and its balance/players. while there's definitely a lot of people on main that needs to tone their actions down, i do not think you'd fare well with the majority of main players from the last few times i've seen you there.
the constant looc salt-infused discussions, although """normal""" for a hrp server, also makes me think you wont' do well in a position of power.
you've, also, in the past, accused an admin of metagrudging and refused to listen to them when they held a valid ruling and opinion. that definitely leaves a very poor taste in my mouth.
-1 unless this is all mitigated somehow.
tl;dr you're honestly just too sensitive and hot-tempered, no personal insult intended, for the role. i'm not sure you can keep a cool head during times of heated argument and contention, especially with the drama we usually have around here.

I have been trying to improve myself, and in general have kept a much calmer attitude in general over time. Comparing myself to how I was in the past, I'd say I've made improvement.kevinz000 wrote: you often get upset over minor things, and i've had to tell you multiple times before to let go.

I probably will not play on main, however, I can observe and keep it open. That is honestly a better thing to do to top it off.
As per the the meta-grudging claims, I would like to point out which admin it was that I accused. Ask Stellar about that, as, he is much more vocal about his distaste towards said admin, and will tell you about times in which meta-grudging was blatant.
As for the last bit, yes, I am hot headed, but, I'd like to believe that I am more collected than I used to be, and, that, I'm capable of dealing with issues properly
I would not show the same attitude as a staff member to a staff situation, as I would a player to a personal dispute

Not nearly enough. If I see him causing so many issues and so much drama it gets brought up on a daily basis that means they're not ready for this. I doubt that you'll act differently as an administrator. If you want to show that you can act rational and levelheaded, act like such.

RE: Moderator Application ThatGuyFromThatPlace
From what I had observed of Flynn, I see good potential for what you can offer. Although, some concerns come to mind that should be addressed. Some points have been cleared already by Kevinz but from my observation you have been a fair player. Although, once concern still self discipline. If you are willing to work on it to show restraint of yourself by keeping yourself at ease from temptations of ooc escalations able to be able to effectively evaluate your actions and events occurred to better react to it. If you can do all that which I have seen in some instances, I hope you can be active with it. So I feel its +1
On a side note, I kinda wonder of how the dynamics will be different when you and maybe Stellar both of you becoming staff will influence your ability to do your job as an admin if an issue arises that would impact the ability to address it. how would you go about it?
