Neinbox's XenoChimera Whitelist Application [Thanks for the +2!]

Post by Neinbox »

Sorry in advance for the overall lengthiness of this thread, but with my being a newer player and maining what can be seen as an unlikable character due to their IC behavior, I feel that this will be a good way help you all know me a little more as a player outside of the restricting circumstances I place myself in for a character.

Discord name: Neinbox#1317

Byond ckey: Neinbox

Current Characters: Uwasv Sidanelv, engineering pineapple-colored jerk extraordinaire.

Job/Races you are applying for: XenoChimera

Name of the character you intend to be using (makes it easier for us to recognize and log): Uleyov Adanvdo, AKA "Creep"

In the case of applying for a species, give us a brief summary of your character's backstory. This should give us an idea that you understand the lore of the species:

This particular creature of extraordinary, anthropomorphized synergy is more of a wanderer by nature than they are anything else, driven by curiosity. That was how they got here- through their curiosity. Curiosity drove them to taste flesh of varying flavors when they happened upon something new. Something delightfully strange and new. It drove them to find the source, hitching a ride unbeknownst to the crew and to the creature- but that was fine. They never really knew their home anyways.

The cycle repeated itself; a meal was secured and along with it something new to play with, a new way to explore the world. Colors, sounds, sensations, but most importantly, thoughts. These were things it never had before. It lurked, it stalked, it slunk and crept as it nosed about. Always staring with those big, feral-looking eyes. Nothing seemed to deter them. As it grew it learned, discovering more and more to add to it's newfound knowledge, sometimes harshly but others in rewarding ways- gaining many nicknames to those who were more accustomed to it's appearance as it never felt the need to tell others what it calls itself. Either that, or when it did it was simply too difficult for them to pronounce and granted themselves creative freedom in such cases.

Having spent some time in the outskirts of sentient space, it had learned more civilized ways through observation. Society worked in much the same way their body did: It adapted and grew, but most importantly, it seemed to work together despite all the apparent chaos. This was incredibly interesting to it. But becoming a part of such was more difficult than they thought. People were confusing and odd, and they always treated it with distrust. Why couldn't it climb the pole with the light? Why couldn't it go diagonally across the street? Why are Thalers needed? Why couldn't it eat the small furry yappy thing?

It also learned another thing.

It hated clothes.

tl;dr their origins are vague because it didn't quite have the capacity to know where it was at and instead only vaguely knew of where it was headed. It's personality is one of curiosity and will often get it's nose into things, especially if it involved people as it's still learning. It had spent a decent amount of time with civilization long enough to where it learned getting a job was somehow important, and turned to the ones most likely to take it in. A lot of things in civilized space is still very new to it and it will have to learn a lot when all is said and done, but it tends to be a good enough student. Some very basic things are already known, but it does have a tendency to want to go places it shouldn't and get into things that aren't it's business, simply because of pure curiosity. It tends to be very compliant about leaving things be once it understands.

Summarize the species. As evidence that you've looked into it: Xenochimeras are a more poetic version of "you are what you eat" come to life, and taking "you can become whatever you want" quite literally. More like a sentient, complex man-o'-war made of synergized virus cells than a traditional organism, they don't have a known point of origin, but it is known that their basic natural shape seems to be a primordial soup of cells whose primary method of survival is to consume, improvise, adapt, and overcome- but for what, and why? While their shapes and personalities can vary as more than the lifeforms of Earth before humanity destroyed it due to the sheer genetic material offered to them by the universe, their methods of "evolving" and reproducing are the same: eat it up and spit it out, respectively.

They also have the incredible ability to self-heal, but only when supplied with the appropriate biomatter to do so. You can't make something out of nothing! In addition, despite their sentient state they still retain feral qualities when overstimulated by stressors such as pain, hunger, fear or stimulating drugs such as caffeine. And much like an animal, they will retreat to a dark, isolated area to recover and regain their sanity. But that doesn't mean that they are outright vicious beasts- like any animal, they will lash out and bite simply because they are afraid and don't understand that someone is trying to help them. It's self-defense. Another thing is that resleeving does not work due to their unique biology- the best thing to do is to leave them an offering of biomatter and let nature take it's course.

In the case of applying for Mime/Clown, what are you intending to do to make them distinct and enjoyable: You think I'm some kind of fool, huh?

What do you expect to happen if you use this race/job to violate any of the server rules?: If I blatantly create lorebreaking behavior and decisions, I am aware that a warning may be outright skipped and I will have my whitelist stripped, in which I may or may not be able to appeal for at a later date- and if I've done enough damage, I hazard an outright ban.

Notes: I will not be playing this character in an unnecessarily aggressive manner whatsoever unless IC circumstances call for it and will act accordingly, but otherwise they'd rather poke about and stay on the sidelines, and when feral will lean towards their flight instinct more than their fight. This character will definitely be an odd addition to the crew, but I believe an overall refreshing character. There will be little to no ERP whatsoever as there's no merit in it for Creep. Unless someone wants to become a literal sick :b:uck. It will also play strictly low-access, low-pay civilian-tier jobs, most likely to main Janitorial and playing the role of "ratter" to help keep it's appetite in check, as well as it's instinctual urges- and in this way, creating a mutual symbiotic relationship with the station and crew. Curiosity will drive it to be an intern and assist departments however, and it may even find it's way to being an explorer with it's wanderlust. It's generally socially strange behavior is more for character development than an intent to be an annoyance.

As a heads-up in case someone points a finger and shouts "lorebreaker!!", they will have internal organs and ingest genetic material internally, simply because it is the most efficient, beneficial and safest way for them to do so- they're able to move around and do other tasks while they absorb their meal. They have learned through trial and error that it is the best way to "eat", and thus the design is ICly intentional to give them a beneficial advantage in comparison to just... laying in a tub of meat until it's good to go again. Trust me, I major in biology :ok_hand:

P. S., I'm not sure if this matters much or if I should even include this at all, but I understand that this species is majorly disliked and entrusting it to players- especially newer ones to your server like me- is something that no-one looks forwards to judging by it's overall negative reputation the players hold for them when mentioned. If it is of any consultation, I am Aurora's Dionae Lore-Developer and have gained all species whitelists as well as head whitelists, but the latter does not matter so much in this particular case. The link to my work is provided in case anyone wishes to take a look about how I handle truly "alien" species. Truth be told, there are quite a few similarities between server lores! Please note, it is still being tweaked from it's previous handler.

These guys have so much potential, and I really hope that I can be an exception to their stigma and help others give them another chance.

Here's a bit of a SFW WIP teaser of how they might look. I'll add a lot more cool things later as I go along- they're supposed to look somewhat Manticore-like overall for a base form but also hold many other unique physical traits from other species. Some feathers here, perhaps scales there, etc. Art belongs to me, Neinbox. They're actually based off of a DnD character of mine too and I love them, and they fit really well within the species so why tf not

Incredibly well thought out and your response to what happens if you come afoul of the rules as the species inspires some confidence. +1

I take it that all I have to do now that I got a +2 is be patient for BlackMajor to get into a mood to check the whitelist section now? Or should I contact him for approval? I understand he can be rather busy, but I'm uncertain which course of action to take.

Having read through the entire application, one thing sticks out to me.

You put in effort.

BlackMajor, if you don't give them this race, I will SMACK you for being stupid.

+1

If only I could give more than just one.
