BYOND Name of complaint against: Bonapart
Your BYOND name: Merne23
Date of issue and round ID: 07/26/2018, though persistent (RoundID is unknown, as RP serv)
Reason for complaint: Let me try and take this slow.
Bonapart has been playing a K-9 borgo named Crowby on the RP server. As part of this he's taken to reciting Standard Operating Procedure and Corporate Regulations in response to orders he's given, but disagrees with, even from Heads of Staff. In addition, he demands that Security staff and other crew answer his questions or otherwise follow his lead. And generally he's been abrasive, rude, and unfun to interact with.
It doesn't help that, in the past, Crowby has acted as if he were malf even when he was not. An incident from... before the preround vote got removed, that comes to mind, is when I (the HoS), the Chief Engineer, and the Colony Director were confronting him and another borg (of whom actually was malf), and they both raised onboard tasers. Sure there was a 'hostile' Detective who was zipping around, this was before they'd pulled out their flash and started attacking them. It had been in response to suggesting that we take them to Robotics and check their Laws, as the AI had been malf. "Do not touch this unit."
I've tried (after getting headbanned for it) to work past all of this instead of screeching about it over ahelps/faxes and mediate when this does occur, but really this is such a recurring problem that affects the rounds of at least the Security staff as a whole, and sometimes even the Command staff involved.
Excerpts as examples, from the logs of that day:
[Security] Mike Harris says, "Got public fuckers in the bar"
[Security] Crowby queries, "Names?"
[Security] Mike Harris says, "The bartender request removal"
[Security] Crowby states, "NAMES?"
[Security] Mike Harris says, "They've peacefully vacated to dorms. No further action required"
[Security] Crowby states, "Thanks for answering the simple fucking question that I had to ask twice."
[Security] Mike Harris says, "No further action required, Crowby. I will not debate a robot."
[Security] Crowby states, "BITCH. I asked twice BEFORE you said no further action was required."
[Security] Crowby states, "If you could quit being a dipshit that'd be fantastic."
[Security] Mike Harris says, "Because I was talking to them, you absolutely worthless piece of whining steel"
[Security] Mike Brennan says, "Both of you, quit it."
Mike Brennan says, "Both of you, quit it."
[Security] Kokonoe says, "Letting us know WHO is a pretty important thing."
[Security] Crowby states, "Right, I forgot, you can't walk and chew bubblegum at the same time so doing your job while also chatting up some invalids is out of the question too."
[Security] Mike Brennan says, "All of you, stop."
Mike Brennan says, "All of you, stop."
[Common] Brian Ski says, "Grub in Security"
[Security] Crowby states, "Fine."
[Security] Mike Harris says, "Oh, I'm fucking sorry I only have one mouth- Fine. Yessir."
[Security] Mike Brennan says, "Yes, best to name suspects when you have them. However, insulting each other over the department radio is childish."
Mike Brennan says, "Yes, best to name suspects when you have them. However, insulting each other over the department radio is childish."
[Security] Mike Harris says, "Agreed. I will accept the borg's unconditional apology at nearest opportune."
[Security] Mike Brennan says, "Drop it."
Mike Brennan says, "Drop it."
When an unexplained pile of gibs was found in the Expedition Hangar during a Trader visit (Ruri is the Colony Director, I am the Head of Security):
[Common] Facility PA states, "Attention! Security level elevated to blue: The station has received reliable information about possible hostile activity on the station. Security staff may have weapons visible, random searches are permitted."
[Security] Crowby queries, "You're joking?"
[Command] Ruri Hayakawa says, "Lets see, bunch of gore, powered crossbow and a machete..."
[Security] Kokonoe asks, "What's the situation?"
[Security] Ruri Hayakawa says, "Well, given theres apparantly a shit ton of blood, a powered bow, a machete, et cetra..."
[Security] Mike Brennan says, "I'll check it out."
Mike Brennan says, "I'll check it out."
[Security] Crowby states, "YOU MEAN A MACAHETE, THE STUFF EXPLORERS COME WITH STANDARD ISSUE?"
[Command] Ruri Hayakawa says, "Lying on a floor covered with blood, paired with a powered bow"
[Security] Crowby declares, "And crossbows?! Fucking crossbows?! It's the current year! We have high powered laser cannons and we're going to code blue OVER A FUCKING CROSSBOW AND OVERSIZED KNIFE?!"
[Security] Ruri Hayakawa says, "A crossbow and knife on a floor covered with blood"
[Security] Crowby states, "Yeah because nobody has ever butchered mice before."
[Security] Crowby states, "Or other animals."
[Security] Ruri Hayakawa says, "Still, totally not suspicious"
[Security] Crowby states, "Especially not explorers, who bring back exotic animals for their fucking meats."
[Security] Crowby states, "It's literally not suspicious, that's correct."
[Security] Crowby states, "This is par for the fucking course."
[Security] Ruri Hayakawa says, "Then they should not butcher them IN PUBLIC"
[Security] Crowby queries, "You realize what you're raising to blue for, right?"
[Security] Ruri Hayakawa says, "And then LEAVE THE WEAPONS on the floor"
[Security] Crowby states, "Yep, that's par for the course."
[Security] Crowby states, "Negligence is not worth going to code blue for unless it's negligence that caused the SM to blow."
[Security] Ruri Hayakawa says, "If the blood checks out to be animal, and not of, say, any sentient life, then I'll lower it"
Since I logged too much I can't actually attach the file wholesale, but I can find another way to prove I haven't 'doctored' this. Currently it's just snipped for the local logs of what I was doing and the Common channel.
My primary complaint is that this, to me, is very nonborg behavior. Or as he himself would nitpick, "Robot" behavior. While I don't appreciate or enjoy the frequency at which the insults are brought out or SoP levied against any and all challengers, it's less of a 'valid' complaint than borg acting quite so independent, all the time.

RE: Player Complaint: Bonapart
I play SELENA and I’ve had a fair few problems with him. I’ve spoken to a few people who know him and apparently he is trying to become better but is “picked on†by other players ICly. To me his behaviour leads to Cyborg law violations and insubordination of Command level crew. I’ve spoke to the admins about this too.
My own record isn’t spotless but I think the main issue isn’t so much his behaviour, it’s that he plays a law-abiding cyborg designed to serve the crew, yet is overagressive and swears in anger when he is either told he is wrong or doesn’t get his way. Sometimes he behaves but his attiude is more suited for a non-law-attached crewmember than a cyborg.
He has had falling out with other players, myself included, so much so that it does become metagrudging even for the RP server which I’ll admit I’ve held in return, so I am trying to avoid interaction where possible.

Snarky but not nessesarily bad. I've had a few interactions with Crowby and basically his character better fits a synthetic crew member better than a law-bound. That being said, polaris and bay's laws do let you get away with alot, much more than you'd think (especially on rev rounds, hoo boy)
im going fuck kill mode

Yeah no, nice omission of facts. You're Decker100, and I've watched you purposely antagonize Crowby, even go so far as to demand them enslaved to you while ignoring other borgs as a late joining AI. You've done stupid things like locked them down if they curse, and other childish attacks and comments to them specifically because you know it gets under their skin. You've even gone so far as to, when pleas are ignored to force sync Crowby, demand other people to do it (aka asking dad for the cookie because mom said no). You play AI solely to secure valids, and have no authority to demand synching, yet you will purposely antagonize him in ways the crew thinks hes rogue / must be enslaved.ÂTauProbe wrote: I play SELENA and I’ve had a fair few problems with him. Too many people don't realize that the borgs are not on asimov, and don't have to answer every single stupid request with a smile. Also, I've noticed a bunch of people instantly jump to declaring Crowby rogue becsuse they defend their laws. Example being last night when a medic was demanding they repair Crowby, but he refused stating law 4 in which authorized personnel only can tamper. He was then called rogue over comms because of the refusal, and telling the guy to fuck off when he kept demanding and screeching he was breaking laws.
He's interrupted scenes when demanded, but oh boy some people have been outright metagrudging him when noticing that he's lewded. Even going out of their way as to fake emergencies to prevent him from fucking, or demanding he do something as stupid as come eat ice cream three times. (yes, that was a serious request)Â Â
If people stopped being abusive he'll stop being abusive back, but like I said.. People want to instantly screech rogue when he defends his lawset, or take it out in other ways. Inducement is the correct term for most of what happens to Crowby

RE: Player Complaint: Bonapart
First of all, do not direct bickering between eachother. Calmly correct people if you believe they are wrong, but dont finger-jab.
Personally, I believe Crowby was in the right in the 'evidence' provided, on a logic basis, but his attitude is quite abrasive. I dont think its the player, but the character. Ive seen him play other characters that dont act like this, and noone has issue with.
My suggestion is Bonapart tones back the sarcasm a bit, and leans his silicon act towards his laws alone, rather than being the law.
Silicons are a support, not a lead, and should be played that way.
Hell, if a silicon is told by even an intern to kill another intern, they are obligated to do so if it does not conflict with their first law, which is to protect the station, or if theyre told otherwise by someone of a proper job or higher.
Tl:dr, crowby's just abraisive, not an asshole, and silicons should be played reactively, not actively.
