Ban Appeal-BiohazardZERO

Post by BiohazardZERO »

BYOND Name: BiohazardZERO

Reason Banned: "Griefing"

Admin who banned:poojawa

Length Banned: Perma

Appeal Reason:

Long story short, I was testing the life reagent as a chemist, and sought to move to an isolated area to test it. There was one person in the area I decided to test, and I told that person to leave. I started testing it. I was unfamiliar with the map, and realized it was arrivals when the admin told me. There were no signs or anything. The admin in question also handled it very unprofessionally, stating my ban reason as "griefing", never gave me a warning. He/she just said >arrivals and banned me. I was not trying to grief, and it was not my intention. Please resolve this ASAP.

So let me get this straight. As a chemist, you wanted to test the Life reagent's effects, and rather than check the names on doors, you just wandered to some random corner of the station, told a person there to buzz off that was already there, then did the test anyways.
What this comes across as is not so much as just not knowing the map's layout that this happened at, but a failure to even do so much as look at the NAMED DOORS.

Let's also not forget this isn't your first time getting a ban, and...actually, let me pull up your notes here, to better look at things. Well, your notes are from back in May, but that's because the last note was when you were banned permanently and got it appealed successfully 2 months later. The appeal itself was accepted because the admin that had permabanned you for what seems to be recorded, as I understand it self-antagging by attacking the AI core and metagaming with someone, didn't respond at all over the appeal.

You see, you can check the /tg/ wiki to know what the Life reagent does, which is make a random mob, from a corgi to a hivebot, and more often than not, will create a HOSTILE SIMPLE MOB. Which is why the description to it states to "be sure to have Security on hand when you go to use this".

So, in summary, you wandered over to arrivals without knowing that's where it was because you didn't look at doors around you, to test a known dangerous chemical in what is clearly not an isolated place because if you REALLY wanted an isolated place, you'd ask for one - not go somewhere that some random person can access. So Virology, or ask Science for a spot, or hell, see if Security will help you find a spot to do the test. With the information I have on hand about this matter, whether it was intentional or not isn't the issue, but the fact that it's blatant disregard for the safety of others, which can also lead into self-antagging if you can't do anything about what spawns from the reagent, which is what you seem to have actually been banned for.
If you have anything to add or say about this, please, do so.
It is only waffer thin.

Yes, I do. Might I say that the round was particularly... Greytidy, people were fighting, and just going crazy. I just wanted to try it, to see what mobs could be spawned. This could have been warning, or even 24 hour worthy, as it didn't ruin the round at all; it is not like I max capped the place. I was in fact trying to keep everything calm, but craziness was happening. Might as well try a few things. Not a single person got pissed, it added to the fun. Again, while it was not the best decision to make, I attribute the ban to the... Green admin. It was handled quite immaturely.

SAY: Arieh Erdot/BiohazardZERO : Just doing magic.

ADMINPRIVATE: PM: BiohazardZERO/(Arieh Erdot)->Poojawa/(Poojawa Vynar): Testing. Just experimenting with the different types of creatures.

It was actually departures, by the by. Which was after you'd already "Tested" your "Magic" in the bar, which garnered at least one ahelp in complaint. Then I proceeded to watch you do it again and that's when you got your bowink and your one chance to explain yourself. Considering that 'Oh I'm just testing' is an extremely common response from griefers, you were put into that category and subsequently banned for it.

Also, green admin. wew.

My question to you, is why I didn't get a warning previously? Hmm?

Because I didn't think you'd be stupid enough to do it again or in a more critical location. I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you did it once to cause some ruckus. Which is fine in a round. The additional reactions caused my concern, and thus, my bowink to you.

There's such a thing as too much admin interference, it was a hard lesson to learn and reign in as an instinct. I might consider lifting it and marking it as a month long ban on the condition that you keep "magic tricks" in a controlled environment.
