Sec+ Chap Job Ban

Reason Banned: "Harmbatoning a rev and then spacing the corpse"

Admin who banned: Ragolution

Length Banned: Perma

Appeal Reason: (What follows is a revised version of the text, which can be found below.) Apologies, but I want to clear some things up. The previously outlined appeal reason was written at the terminal just as I was about to board my flight, thus it was rushed and rough. I was unable to edit it these past few days due to my trip to (large desert in the western hemisphere) and the nature of my work there. However, I hope this revised version of the appeal lays things out in a much clearer way.

So it was nearing the start of the round and also the end of the day. It was a rev round (something I found out later), and I was a sec officer. So the incident took place near cargo, where I was trying to apprehend a player named maka for stealing my batons, assault, and aiding a fugitive, (I had no taser either, as it was stolen in a large mob attack that maka participated in). So I, being frustrated with being seemingly jumped by half the station earlier, let my emotions take the better of me and I batoned a flash-banged maka with another officer. I remember around 2 strikes to the body, but I did not repeatedly do this until they were dead, nor with any intention to kill. They were before this point already wounded severely and of course, batons are not commonly used to treat injuries.  I also noticed that maka had logged off at this point, which drove me to make my second mistake: contemplating on tossing them out the airlock rather than treating their (at this time unknown) injuries. Again, a poor move caused by low-brow emotion but also by a false assumption on how rounds work (see below). However before I could make the final "airlock decision" So soon after I heard the dreaded "bwoink" sound effect, but rather than the usual heart attack it causes, I was just too tired to be alarmed.  That is why I gave the lazy explanation of self-defense. I fully acknowledge my actions as wrong, and my conduct quite unbecoming. For that I am quite sorry. However, after reading complaints about such incidents of "shitcurity" and how it really ruins the fun of others, my eyes were opened. It was eye opening in the way that now I understood both "sides of the baton." I understand a job ban was the right thing to do, punishments exist because rules do. However, I think that making it temporary instead of permanent would be best as I could then be a "de-shitifying" part of sec. Additionally, I did not go to deliberately kill maka, nor did I go to kill half the station. So it was less of deliberate murder and more of negligent manslaughter. I have read into the policies for job bans and my situation seems to be one best suited for a temporary job ban. Additionally, this is my first job ban, so moving right to perma seems a bit extreme. However, the final decision, of course, is not up to my opinion. Thanks for you time and patience with this whole thing. Though, I still know: "it's only game."

Original Appeal Reason Text
Both of my batons were stolen from me by the rev in question and after another sec officer (who's name I have since forgotten) downed them I proceeded to handcuff them. I'm not sure when the "harmbatoning" took place during the altercation but it must have happened during the arrest. Then, noticing the person became brain-dead (a log-out, if I am correct), I decided that spacing the corpse would allow for the round to continue as the exact mechanics of a crew victory seem to me when all revs are taken care of. Most of my weapons had also been stolen by the greytide.

I've had a mild change of heart and I'm willing to give you a chance to continue playing Sec considering you can actually grasp the gravity of your actions. I appreciate the verbosity of your post and a bit of the apologetic nature it holds, so the next time you come on you should be able to play Sec. The Chaplain ban was something else entirely because you were self-antagging, so that will be staying until further notice.
