In the case of applying for a species, give us a brief summary of your character's backstory. This should give us an idea that you understand the lore of the species:


On 2/4/2518 an Altam Research Solutions (ARS) science, craft on a survey mission detected the remains of an unknown craft near the Sierra 4-77 system. The science craft moved in to discover a small chunk of an unknown craft. A team was sent inside to investigate and a small blob of unknown nanites was quickly discovered by the ARS team. The researchers aboard the science vessel spent the next few days picking and prodding at the recovered blob eventually discovering it to be some form of advanced synthetic entity. 

Immediately after discovering the purpose of the blob, the vessel quickly returned to the ARS Discovery, the companies only and primary station. Over the following years, ARS researchers tried and tried again to reverse engineer the entities technology, failing each time. Their efforts were suddenly stopped on 2/5/2520 when the ARS Discovery suffered an unknown disaster, causing a quarantine alert and killing all active sentient life aboard the station at the time.

One of the researchers more recent attempts to harness the technology layed dormient in the derelict labs for years until slowly coming to life and beginning to search the station for data to assimilate. Eventually, on 3/11/2561 the quarantine placed by local authorities on the Discovery was lifted and salvaging rights were promptly sold to NanoTrasen salvaging. The blob encountered NanoTrasen salvage teams and began to follow and analyze their behavior. Eventually, like most functioning ARS Synths recovered the entity eventually decided to join NanoTrasen being hired under its ARS designation ART-11-87-P. 




Summarize the species. As evidence that you've looked into it: A Protean is a synthetic being made completely of nanites. The few actual components in them are used to control, organize, and replicate nanites. 

In the case of applying for Mime/Clown, what are you intending to do to make them distinct and enjoyable: Not applying for mime or clown. 

What do you expect to happen if you use this race/job to violate any of the server rules?: I would likely have my whitelist removed along with the punishment for whatever rule I violated.

You're the least of my worries regarding abusing this species abilities. You've also clearly thought of the backstory behind the character, and I find it interesting how you tied it in to the ARS company. +1

Backstory doesn't particularly line up with how Proteans were made but hey they don't really have lore listed anywhere publically accessible, and you've already anchored yourself in RP as a competent roleplayer. So I can't really deny this.

Seems you took a bit of a xenochimera approach to this characters backstory, which I find amusing. But some reasonable flexibility with canon of species is fine for people to come up with their own stories.
