Ban appeal

BYOND Name:Â scrubs2009
Reason Banned: I was acting captain on a station when I got reports of poisonous bees being made in cargo. When I couldn't get help from sec I went in with lethals instead of stuns.
Admin who banned:Â Subtumake
Length Banned:Â Permanent
Appeal Reason: I only went in with lethals because there was too many people to reliably stun and cuff without one of them getting up and disarming me. Also in my notes it says I "Stole" the caps gun. I was the acting captain. Either way, I'm sorry and just want to be able to use CE tools and manage sec. I don't want to be captain or anything.Â

This was discussed in adminchat a few months ago. With your actions that round about the incident at hand, it was decided the headban stays. I believe Theoun and Ruby were also there in that discussion. Acting captain does not have the right to break the display case and take the gun. Especially not when they followed to use the gun on security members that have come to detain them.

Is there a time when I can get a chance to prove I've "Learned my lesson"? A permanent ban over an isolated incident seems heavy handed.

Boyo, we've banned folks for wordlessly shooting people, bumrushing to Toxins to move plasma canisters around to release burning plasma, and generally ruining the round as a non-antag for reasons they would, at best, cite as "making the round interesting". So the fact we didn't permaban you from the server over it is more than 95% of folks who do what you did should be considered one heck of a miracle.
So consider it a miracle we didn't permaban you, and be happy about what you have.
{EDIT:} Because I keep reading over what I typed and keep thinking it's incorrect in terms of grammar, here's a tl;dr version for you.
Be happy it was a permanent headban, and not a permanent server ban, because almost all folks who do things similar to what you did that day aren't even given a chance to appeal when we server ban them for it.

the actual series of events is incredibly important here. using lethals to subdue multiple hostiles who are engaging in high risk activities is potentially valid. using lethals to kill sec arresting you for committing an act of grand theft is probably not valid. you mentioned absolutely nothing regarding you shooting at sec, which is sort of misleading for an appeal and doesn't do your case any favours.
although ban was two months ago so i don't see lifting it as a massive risk.

due to your recent actions as security i don't see any way to lift this ban in good faith
